Set Aside

Who am I now this lonely man bent to the point of break,

willing to share his soul, yet existing in such loneliness, for none are found who would receive it?

Set aside for the busier matters of others live’s,

I struggle in my search for that quiet reassurance I once knew in the reassuring arms of my love,

knowing I belonged amongst shared dreams and purpose.”

Near

Near

Excerpt

A night walk with an interest in a conversation, good wine with great friends enjoying life’s journey.

How glad I am,

to feel you near.

To have you as a friend,

of common interest in mind.

To open up my heart to uncertainty,

not too afraid for someone to see,

or too displeased to care.

But one who peers with interest,

rapt into the center of my soul.

How pleasant here to feel your voice

role over me like the sea.

Light and fresh,

as a summer eve.

Whose thoughts draw

my anxious mind,

like a rainbow in the sky.

Oh, the joy earned,

to gaze into a mind so pure.

A model of the ways,

next to me as in life.

Or just to rest in silence,

savoring the tender tie.

Oh to sit so close to a friend,

who knows all my faults.

And chooses still my side,

as a  true friend that listens

with their hearts.

Now to share that clean

unselfish flame,

of nearer inner bonds.

The soft aura rapt,

watching the evening’s sun.

Sun Set

Sun Set

Come sit with me,
and watch the sun set.
Spend with me,
the last moments of life
this day.
There is a tear,
on the cheek of the horizon.
Life has gotten away,
again.
I have lost something beautiful,
something God-given…

And yet,

there is a voice I hear,
saying, tomorrow… tomorrow…

Easter to Enjoy

Easter To Enjoy

Jesus came to earth,
to show us how to live.

How to put others first,
how to love and how to give.

Then He set about His work,
that God sent Him to do.

He took our punishment on Himself,
He made us clean and new.

He could have saved Himself,
calling Angels from above.

But He chose to pay our price for sin,
He paid it out of love.

Our Lord died on Good Friday,
but the cross did not destroy.

His resurrection on Easter morn,
that fills our hearts with joy.

Now we know our earthly death,
like His, is just a rest.

We’ll be forever with Him,
in Heaven, where life is best.

So we live our lives for Jesus,
think of Him in all we do.

Thank you Savior,
thank you Lord,
help us love like You.

Hurt

I hurt myself today

To see if I still feel

I focus on the pain

The only thing that’s real

The needle tears a hole

The old familiar sting

Try to kill it all away

But I remember everything

What have I become

My sweetest friend

Everyone I know

Goes away in the end

And you could have it all

My empire of dirt

I will let you down

I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns

Upon my liars chair

Full of broken thoughts

I cannot repair

Beneath the stains of time

The feelings disappear

You are someone else

I am still right here

What have I become

My sweetest friend

Everyone I know

Goes away in the end

And you could have it all

My empire of dirt

I will let you down

I will make you hurt

If I could start again

A million miles away

I will keep myself

I would find a way

Often My Dreams

Often My Dreams

Excerpt

The way we were with each other, the friendship, our marriage that it grew to be. Thank you, my dear wife, for the lasting thoughts that carry my mind to places in my heart of untold purities. I miss you so desperately and I can never forget our love, our marriage, the children, and now, we have grandchildren. I sure hope you approve, even though you’re not here. I’m a hot, hot mess without you.

Until we meet again Shannon, I love you. May you always rest so peacefully.

Often My Dreams

Dreaming
her dreams.

Her dreaming,
her dreams.

Oh, but I wish she had,
dreamt of us.

My dreams,
are dreams of us.

I dream of the longing of
a lifetime, loving her.

In The Faces Of

A writing of a female in conversation with the opposite sex.

In The Faces Of

In the faces of love,

I have seen so little of life.

In the faces of love,

I have searched for expression,

have yet to come away with an answer.

And it seems I have been

turned away at last.

And the face of love

is long ago friend,

last seen too many.

Seasons hence,

but a sweet taste

of friendship lingers.

Like carved images of yesterday,

in the faces of the seasons of love.

Rational Thinking

Rational Thinking

Rational thinking,
wise to choose.

It’s a little bit harder,
nothing more for me to lose.

Broken dreams,
broken hearts.

Broken wings,
my broken parts.

Rational thinking,
wise to choose.

It’s a little bit harder now,
nothing more for me to lose.

I’m struggling harder,
just to stay alive.

I’m struggling harder now,
just to say goodbye.

Rational thinking,
wise to choose.

It’s a little bit harder now,
nothing more for me to lose.

Please come fix me,
please fix me now.

Rational thinking,
wise to choose.

I’m struggling harder now,
nothing more for…me…to…lose…

Behold, a King

Behold, a King

It was as foretold in folklore,

the, “Greatest Story Ever Told”

Behold, a “light” that shines,

on the “One,” in the manger.

Displayed in a arua of “Peace.”

bonded to the roots of “Love.”

That the “child” that was born,

to a mother, that is adorned.

Became as foretold in folklore,

the “Greatest Story Ever Told.”

The “child” in that manger,

His Greatest quest,

has not yet.

The burdens of such a King,

taken upon Himself.

That He has so chosen,

to pay for our sin.

Well, He done it,

He paid it out of “Love.”

For that’s a true King,

know?

He gave His Life,

He gave it out of “Love.”

Friends

Friends

Friendship is the kind of love,

that never can grow old.

Warm and cozy it will stay,

when other things are cold.

Friendship’s is, a love so true,

it can not be denied.

Because a friend will always be there,

close by your side.

Lovers come and go,

in this game of life we play.

But a true friend, no matter what,

in your heart will always stay.

So hold these friends dear to you,

and never let them go.

Think how much they mean to you,

and make sure to tell them so.

Dear Love, I Would

Dear Love, I Would

Your lips would make for a gentle kiss.

Your arms would make for a perfect hug.

Your hand would make a perfect fit for mine.

You’re the one I would love having beside me.

You’re the one I would want to share my heart and life with now.

I wish I knew what I did to deserve you showing up?

Because, I would do it again!
